Internal and external communication within the framework of the Management Systems and the attention to the needs and expectations of the interested parties is a requirement of the ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 standards and the European EMAS Regulation.

Establishing a good engagement communication relationship with stakeholders involves proper planning that facilitates both two-way communication and transparency in reporting.

It must be said that the technical and graphic editing of a sustainability report (GRI/Global Compact, etc.) or an EMAS environmental statement is a complex and highly demanding task—especially if sufficient resources are not available or if the goal is for these documents and their dissemination to have acertain IMPACT, UTILITY, AND VALUEbeyond mere validation by the verifying body. As a general rule, few corporate reports are sufficiently disseminated to staff, customers, and suppliers, among other target audiences, and therefore are not read to the intended extent. This issue is exacerbated, above all, if the format of the reports, statements, and declarations does not incorporate a VISUAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND WELL-ORGANIZED LAYOUT. According to the ESQE’17 case study, it is estimated that only 29% of published EMAS Environmental Statements can be considered high quality, and of these, only 10% demonstrate professional graphic design support. This implies that all the effort made by the organization’s technical team does not always contribute to fulfilling the fourfold objective of INFORMING, RAISING AWARENESS, ENGAGING, AND CREATING VALUE.
